Sarawak Buka Peluang Dalam Sukan Bola Jaring |
MUKAH: Sarawak membuka peluang untuk mara ke peringkat seterusnya dalam sukan bola jaring pada temasya Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) XXI 2024 selepas mengejutkan Selangor dalam aksi peringkat kumpulan pada Isnin. Kedua-dua pasukan saling berbalas kutipan mata namun Sarawak pada satu ketika ketinggalan di tangan Selangor. Namun Sarawak yang telah mengalami dua kekalahan awal enggan mengalah dan bangkit untuk mengejar Selangor hingga keduanya terikat dengan mata 39-39. Namun tuah memihak Sarawak apabila berjaya menjaringkan mata pada saat terakhir sebelum wisel penamat dibunyikan untuk membolehkan tuan rumah menang tipis 40-39. Jurulatih pasukan Bola Jaring Sarawak, Khaterine Khoo Sen Sen berkata, berbaki dua lagi perlawanan, pasukan bola jaring Sarawak pasti dapat menempatkan diri menjadi naib johan dalam Peringkat Kumpulan B walaupun kalah dua perlawanan sebelumnya. "Kita masih berpeluang untuk merebut naib johan dalam Peringkat Kumpulan B dan perlu kemenangan besar dalam dua lagi perlawanan yang berbaki. "Yang paling penting ialah semangat mereka, jangan putus asa, agi idup agi ngelaban,” ujar beliau ketika ditemui selepas perlawanan tamat. Sementara itu, Presiden Persatuan Bola Jaring Sarawak merangkap SDCM Sarawak, Datin Ellis Suriati yang turut menyaksikan perlawanan tersebut turut gembira dengan kebangkitan semula pasukan Sarawak untuk memperoleh kemenangan. "Sorakan sokongan yang begitu hangat daripada penyokong-penyokong Sarawak sendiri telah menyemarakkan lagi semangat pemain Sarawak. SUKMA 2024: Sarawak T20 Cricket Team’s Finals Entry Hailed As Historic Milestone |
KUCHING: The Sarawak T20 cricket team’s remarkable achievement of reaching the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) finals for the first time has been hailed as a historic milestone. Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah praised this achievement as a testament to the significant progress cricket has made in Sarawak. “The cricket team has done well. Now they are fighting against Kelantan, a good chance, they could win the championship,” he said when met by reporters during the finals of the SUKMA 2024 T20 cricket match between Sarawak and Kelantan here, on Monday. Earlier on Sunday, the Sarawak team advanced to the finals after defeating Terengganu with a 14-run victory. In addition to cricket, Dato Sri Abdul Karim also praised the success of Sarawak’s taekwondo team which exceeded expectations by winning 11 gold medals, despite an initial target of 7 golds. On another matter, Dato Sri Abdul Karim said that the SUKMA 2024 Closing Ceremony will be held in the Petra Jaya Unity Stadium due to less participation of athletes from each contingent as most of them have already departed from Sarawak. "If I’m not mistaken, only 50 people from each contingent will attend the closing ceremony, compared to the 150 per contingent present at the opening ceremony," he said. -UKASnews |

SUKMA 2024: Elvis Sumbang Emas Pertama Acara Terjun |
KUCHING: Elvis Priestley Clement menyumbang pingat emas pertama skuad terjun Sarawak dalam acara 3 meter papan anjal individu yang membuka tirai di Pusat Akuatik Pandelela Rinong, Petra Jaya pada Isnin. Terjunan Elvis mengutip mata tertinggi sebanyak 415.15 untuk mengalahkan atlet Wilayah Persekutuan, Yong Rui Jie yang mengutip 388.80 mata di tempat kedua. Seorang lagi atlet Wilayah Persekutuan, Nurqayyum Nazmi Mohamad Nazim di tempat ketiga dengan kutipan mata sebanyak 377.65. Sementara itu, rakan senegeri Elvis, Awang Sharzan Nasrin menduduki tempat kelima dengan kutipan mata 306.75. SwkGDC Game Jam Marks Three Years Of Continued Success |
KUCHING: The Sarawak Game Developer’s Community (SwkGDC) concluded its third annual SwkGDC Game Jam, held at TEGAS Digital Village from August 9 to 11. According to a statement, the three-day programme included technical workshops covering topics like game design, art for games, and Unity and Unreal Engine development. The main event was a hackathon whereby 49 participants were split into teams to develop digital video game prototypes in under 48 hours. This year’s game jam was supported by TEGAS Digital Village, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Microsoft Xbox, and GamesHQ Malaysia. The theme of the game jam was ‘Motion’ and participants sought help and guidance from a roster of industry mentors hailing from across Malaysia. “The studios included Moredoor Interactive, Kloena Digital, Rez Studios, Twilight Foundry Games, and Metronomik. “On the final day, presentations and playtesting sessions were open for the public to attend. Eleven teams presented their prototypes to a public crowd and a panel of judges, who ranked each game and picked three winning teams,” the statement said. The panel of six judges comprised representatives from TEGAS Digital Village, SDEC, Microsoft Xbox, two game jam mentors, and a local developer, Nerdook Productions. The three winning games are ‘Chicken Express’ by BeeBeeBoopBoop, ‘Lightspeed’ by KentangSoft, and ‘Specter Sight’ by The Holiday. The winning teams will have the opportunity to showcase at Level Up PLAY hosted by MDEC, happening from September 13 to 15, 2024, at KLCC. Meanwhile, SDEC will be sponsoring the teams’ travel, accommodation costs, and conference passes to Level Up KL happening from October 1 to 3, 2024. This year’s game jam attracted more than 70 registrations, including students, enthusiasts, and working professionals from all over Malaysia. Natalie Ends SUKMA Journey With Another Gold In Squash Mixed Doubles |
KUCHING: It was an emotional moment for Sarawakian Natalie Shu Eng Sim as she clinched another gold medal in the squash mixed doubles team event in her final Malaysia Games (SUKMA) appearance. Partnering with Harith Danial Jefri, the duo extended their streak of winning gold medals in the category after triumphing over Melaka’s Andrik Lim Kai Shan and Thanusaa Uthrian in a thrilling match with scores of 11-9, 8-11, and 11-9. The win followed their previous gold medal success in SUKMA 2022 where they were also paired together. Their strong chemistry on the court, built through mental preparation as much as physical training, was key to their victory. “It’s even more special because this is my last SUKMA,” said Natalie when met by reporters after the medal presentation ceremony here, today. Meanwhile, Harith expressed his joy in winning the gold medal on home soil. “It feels amazing, especially winning here in Sarawak and in front of my parents. This is the first time my father has seen me win a major event, so it means a lot,” he said. In another match, Sarawak’s second Mixed Doubles team, Altamis Aqhar Sallam A Sufian and Eugenia David secured the bronze medal after a tough battle against Sabah’s Tristan Andreas Muyou Angkaus and Doycee Lee Ye San, winning in three sets (11-6, 10-11, and 11-6). Baginda berkesempatan melawat tiga lapang menembak iaitu lapang menembak 10 meter, 25 meter dan 50 meter. Raja Muda Kedah juga berkesempatan menyaksikan pusingan kelayakan bagi acara wanita pistol udara 10 meter relay kedua yang berlangsung. Sarawak Squash Duos Secure Semifinal Places In Men's & Women's Doubles |
KUCHING: Sarawak has secured spots in the semifinals of both the men’s and women’s doubles squash events with key victories in the quarterfinals held this morning. In the women’s doubles, Nathalie Shu Eng Sim and Whitney Isabelle Wilson delivered an impressive performance at the Sarawak Squash Centre to secure straight-sets victory over Penang’s Natasha Jae Yee Lim and Kuviraa Premchand, winning 11-8 in the first set and 11-5 in the second. Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Sarawak's Harith Danial Jefri and Altamis Aqhar Sallam A Sufian emerged victorious in their match against Penang’s Wei Yan Tho and Kreethi Pillay Muniswaran. The Sarawak duo won both sets 11-9 to secure a place in the semifinals. However, another Sarawak women pair, Eugenia David and Claudia Bi Er Yong, faced a tough challenge against Negeri Sembilan's Harleein Tan and Haneesha Veerakumar.
