Hari pertama Pra-Mesyuarat Penilaian Permohonan Bantuan Dana Rumah Ibadat Agama-Agama Lain Fasa 1 Tahun 2026 telah dilaksanakan dan dipengerusikan oleh YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Pengarah UNIFOR, bersama kehadiran Pegawai Juruukur Bahan daripada JKR Sarawak.
Selepas beberapa minggu pelaksanaan turun padang dan sesi libat urus bersama pelbagai pihak, UNIFOR kini memasuki fasa penting iaitu proses verifikasi, semakan dan penilaian terhadap semua permohonan yang telah diterima.
Mesyuarat ini bertujuan untuk meneliti setiap permohonan secara terperinci sebelum dibentangkan kepada Jawatankuasa Penilaian. Setiap permohonan disemak dengan penuh ketelitian bagi memastikan prinsip ketelusan, akauntabiliti serta keadilan sentiasa dipelihara, di samping memastikan bantuan disalurkan kepada pihak yang benar-benar memerlukan.
Pegawai Juruukur Bahan JKR Sarawak memainkan peranan penting dalam membantu UNIFOR melaksanakan semakan teknikal serta memberikan pandangan profesional berkaitan spesifikasi kerja dan anggaran kos yang dikemukakan oleh pemohon.
Pelaksanaan pra-mesyuarat ini mencerminkan komitmen berterusan UNIFOR dalam memastikan setiap permohonan dinilai secara menyeluruh, telus dan berlandaskan keperluan sebenar. Ia juga memperkukuh kerjasama strategik antara UNIFOR dan agensi teknikal seperti JKR Sarawak dalam memastikan pelaksanaan projek yang lebih cekap, berkualiti serta memberi impak positif kepada rumah ibadat agama-agama lain di Sarawak.

The second day of the Bengkel Penetapan Skop Projek STEM Sekolah Mubaligh, organised by the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), continued with presentations by principals and teachers from mission schools throughout Sarawak.
The session provided an opportunity for each representative to present their proposed STEM project plans, followed by constructive discussions and clarifications to ensure that the scope of works aligns with the objectives of the Mission School Assistance initiative.
Through these presentations, the workshop ensured that the proposed projects are practical, well-planned, and responsive to the actual needs of each school, particularly in strengthening facilities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
This workshop reflects UNIFOR’s continued commitment to supporting mission schools through close engagement, careful planning, and strong collaboration with Mission Authorities and school management across Sarawak.
The grant assistance extended for these STEM projects is set to enhance both teaching and learning outcomes, nurturing interest and building strong foundations in STEM from the early years of primary education through to secondary school, and equipping students with skills for future opportunities.
The two-day workshop concluded with closing remarks by YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, followed by a certificate presentation session to all participants.

YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, graced the Bengkel Penetapan Skop Projek STEM Sekolah Mubaligh, organized by Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), together with Mission Authorities, property holders including Archbishop, Archdiocese of Kuching, The Bishop of Kuching, Diocese of Kuching and The Secretary of Trustees Methodist Church of Sarawak, and principals, teachers from mission schools throughout Sarawak.
The workshop was held to discuss and determine the scope of the proposed STEM projects under the Mission School Fund Assistance initiative, aimed at improving facilities and strengthening science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in mission schools.
The first day began with a welcoming address by YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who emphasised the importance of careful planning to ensure that the proposed projects meet the actual needs of each school. In his opening remarks, YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas highlighted the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment towards mission schools, including the additional allocation provided this year to support the implementation of STEM projects under the Mission School Assistance programme.
Discussion sessions were then conducted with Mission Authorities and school representatives to review proposed project scopes, identify priorities, and refine the implementation plan in a structured and effective manner.
The session continued with further discussions and compilation of project details in preparation for the presentation session on the following day.
This workshop reflects UNIFOR’s ongoing commitment to supporting mission schools through close engagement, proper planning, and strong collaboration with religious authorities and school management across Sarawak.

YBhg. Dato Georgina, together with UNIFOR team paid a visit to St. Peter’s Church this morning, led by YBhg. Archbishop Dato Dr. Simon Poh.
The visit also served as a follow-up tour, held upon the kind invitation of Father Vincent Chin, the Parish Priest following the completion of the church’s construction last year.
The visit provided a meaningful opportunity to appreciate both the old and new church buildings, each reflecting enduring faith, unity, and the rich heritage of the community. The architectural beauty of the church stands as a testament to devotion and continuity of unwavering faith across generations.

YBhg. Dato’ Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, together with the Heads of Religions, interfaith representatives, and the UNIFOR team, attended the Open House held in conjunction with Naw-Rúz 2026, hosted by The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Sarawak.
The gathering was a meaningful occasion that reflected the spirit of unity and harmony, bringing together representatives of diverse faiths in a warm atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.
Naw-Rúz, which means “New Day,” marks the beginning of the Bahá’í New Year and the first day of the Bahá’í calendar. Celebrated at the time of the spring equinox, it symbolizes spiritual renewal, hope, and the refreshing of the soul.
For the Bahá’í community, Naw-Rúz is a joyful celebration following nineteen days of fasting and spiritual preparation. It is a time of thanksgiving, hospitality, service, and a renewed commitment to the unity of humankind.

The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), Sarawak Premier’s Department, received a courtesy visit from YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, Director of the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, at the UNIFOR office.
The visit was received by YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, together with UNIFOR officers.
The courtesy call provided an opportunity for both agencies to exchange views and discuss their respective roles in supporting the implementation of development projects for houses of worship across Sarawak. The meeting also reflects the strong working relationship between UNIFOR and JKR in ensuring that such development initiatives are carried out effectively and in an orderly manner.
The visit concluded with a group photograph as a symbolic gesture of the positive collaboration between the two agencies.

The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), Premier’s Department of Sarawak, conducted project verification visits to several locations around Kuching.
The visits were led by YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, together with the UNIFOR team to observe the current condition of the sites and review the facilities available at each location. The visit also allowed UNIFOR to assess existing facilities and identify areas that may be considered for assistance in the future.
Also present during the visit were YBhg. Dato Dr Simon Poh, Archbishop of Kuching, together Fr. Eugenio Gocela Maglasang and Fr. Vincent Chin. During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to tour several churches as well as the Carmelite Monastery. The delegation was also briefed on the daily life of the nuns at the monastery, including the preparation of the holy bread and their spiritual way of life.
Among the locations visited were:
* Carmelite Monastery
* Holy Trinity Church, Kenyalang Park
* Chapel of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Bintawa
The visit also provided an opportunity for UNIFOR to better understand the needs at each location and to hear directly from the church representatives regarding possible areas where support may be considered. Quantity Surveyors (QS) from the Public Works Department (JKR) also joined the visit to provide technical insights on site requirements and possible improvement works.
At the end of the visit, YBhg. Dato Director received a birthday surprise from YBhg. Dato Dr Simon Poh, Fr. Vincent Chin and the church committee members as a gesture of appreciation and remembrance of the visit.

YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), together with the UNIFOR team, conducted a series of project and cemetery site visits today as a follow-up to the Cemetery Management Workshop held on 4–5 February 2026.

Sikh Crematorium (New), Batu Kitang
Baha’i Cemetery, Batu Kitang
The morning session began at the Buddhist Cemetery, Jalan Mendu, with the visit led by Mr. Garry Lim, representative of the Malaysian Buddhist Association, Sarawak Branch.
The Buddhist Cemetery at Jalan Mendu, with over a century of history, may appear overgrown today, but it carries a clear and determined intention to be restored. With the right support and collective effort, this heritage site can be revived to reflect the dignity and legacy it deserves.
The delegation then proceeded to the Sikh Crematorium (Old), Jalan Pending, where they were received by YBhg. Dato Dr. Kalwinder Singh Khaira, President of the Sarawak Sikh Temple Association, together with other representatives.
In the afternoon, the team continued the site visits to the Sikh Crematorium (New), Batu Kitang, followed by the Baha’i Cemetery, Batu Kitang, as part of UNIFOR’s continuous engagement with various religious communities in Sarawak.
These visits reflect UNIFOR’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration with religious institutions, enhancing cemetery management practices, and ensuring continued support for the diverse faith communities throughout Sarawak.
In preserving these sacred spaces, we are not merely maintaining land — we are honouring history, safeguarding identity, and upholding the dignity of every community we serve.

Dato’ Georgina Apphia Ngau bersama Ketua-Ketua Agama, wakil-wakil agama lain serta warga UNIFOR telah menghadiri Majlis Rumah Terbuka Hari Raya Aidilfitri yang dianjurkan oleh Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, bersama isteri, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, di Astana Negeri Sarawak.
Majlis yang berlangsung dalam suasana penuh meriah ini diserikan dengan semangat harmoni, muhibah dan keterangkuman, sekali gus mencerminkan keindahan sebenar Aidilfitri yang menyatukan masyarakat daripada pelbagai latar belakang.
Penganjuran majlis ini bukan sahaja menjadi wadah untuk mengeratkan silaturahim, malah turut melambangkan komitmen berterusan Sarawak dalam memupuk perpaduan, saling menghormati dan kebersamaan dalam kepelbagaian.
