Afternoon Session:
Sikh Crematorium (New), Batu Kitang

The morning session began at the Buddhist Cemetery, Jalan Mendu, with the visit led by Mr. Garry Lim, representative of the Malaysian Buddhist Association, Sarawak Branch.
The Buddhist Cemetery at Jalan Mendu, with over a century of history, may appear overgrown today, but it carries a clear and determined intention to be restored. With the right support and collective effort, this heritage site can be revived to reflect the dignity and legacy it deserves.
The delegation then proceeded to the Sikh Crematorium (Old), Jalan Pending, where they were received by YBhg. Dato Dr. Kalwinder Singh Khaira, President of the Sarawak Sikh Temple Association, together with other representatives.
In the afternoon, the team continued the site visits to the Sikh Crematorium (New), Batu Kitang, followed by the Baha’i Cemetery, Batu Kitang, as part of UNIFOR’s continuous engagement with various religious communities in Sarawak.
These visits reflect UNIFOR’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration with religious institutions, enhancing cemetery management practices, and ensuring continued support for the diverse faith communities throughout Sarawak.
In preserving these sacred spaces, we are not merely maintaining land — we are honouring history, safeguarding identity, and upholding the dignity of every community we serve.
