YBhg. Dato’ Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, together with the Heads of Religions, interfaith representatives, and the UNIFOR team, attended the Open House held in conjunction with Naw-Rúz 2026, hosted by The Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Sarawak.
The gathering was a meaningful occasion that reflected the spirit of unity and harmony, bringing together representatives of diverse faiths in a warm atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.
Naw-Rúz, which means “New Day,” marks the beginning of the Bahá’í New Year and the first day of the Bahá’í calendar. Celebrated at the time of the spring equinox, it symbolizes spiritual renewal, hope, and the refreshing of the soul.
For the Bahá’í community, Naw-Rúz is a joyful celebration following nineteen days of fasting and spiritual preparation. It is a time of thanksgiving, hospitality, service, and a renewed commitment to the unity of humankind.
“This day, verily, is the crown of all the months and the source thereof, the day on which the breath of life is wafted over all created things.”
— Bahá’u’lláh
In celebrating Naw-Rúz, we honour the shared values of peace, interfaith understanding, and mutual respect, while celebrating the beauty of togetherness that continues to strengthen harmony in our society.
