KUCHING: Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, made a delightful visit to Kek Lapis Warisan Sdn. Bhd. on Thursday, where she graciously launched their latest creation, the Warisan Butter Cake.
Arriving at noon, Her Royal Highness was warmly welcomed by the wife of the Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication II, Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin, along with the wife of the Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar.
The visit kicked off with Her Royal Highness personally taking part in the intricate process of preparing Sarawak’s famous kek lapis, including the Madu Belang Kek Lapis, Lumut Kek Lapis, and Masam Manis Kek Lapis, showcasing her enthusiasm for the iconic delicacy.
After the hands-on experience, Her Royal Highness had the opportunity to sample various flavors of the kek lapis, as well as the newly introduced Warisan Butter Cake, which she praised for its exceptional taste.
Her Royal Highness also purchased a variety of the local kek lapis, selecting flavours such as Masam Manis, Hati Pari, Idola, Lumut Cheese, Horlick and other products such as Terubok Masin, Florentine Biscuits and Gulapong Asli.
Kek Lapis Warisan Sdn. Bhd. has earned its place as a must-visit destination for Sarawak kek lapis, offering a remarkable range of 44 different flavours with various designs.
Her Royal Highness's visit added a touch of royal prestige to the occasion, further shining a spotlight on the cultural and economic significance of the Sarawak kek lapis industry, a cherished pride of the region.
In the evening, Her Royal Highness continued her visit to the Borneo Craft Expo and International Conference 2024 (BCG2024) at the Kuching Waterfront, accompanied by Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah and the wife of Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts II, Datin Melinda Claudia Bucking-Lawan.
Her Royal Highness interacted warmly with local
entrepreneurs, purchasing unique souvenirs such as Murum handicrafts, woven bags, jewelry, and songket.
She also had the opportunity to sample traditional delicacies like Linut and even participated briefly in crafting the 'tali air' pattern for Keringkam, a traditional Sarawak Malay attire, showcasing her appreciation for local culture and craftsmanship.-UKASnews
