KUCHING: The Tribute Concert to P. Ramlee, ‘Malam Getaran Jiwa’, successfully brought back the nostalgia of legendary works by Tan Sri P. Ramlee.
The concert, organised by the Sarawak Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Sanggar Kreatif Kuching Theatre Organisation, and TV Sarawak (TVS), featured captivating performances by talented Sarawakian artists.
The lively event, held at the Dewan Majma Tunku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah in Kuching on Saturday, was attended by Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
The evening showcased an orchestra-led musical performance, accompanied by the voices of well-known Sarawakian artists like Nurhamimah Borhan, Mohd Firdaus Abu Bakar, Ahmady Sapuan, Chien Ng, Hairee Francis, and Nurhijrah Yahya.
A special guest, renowned singer Azie Mustapha, added to the emotional atmosphere of the night.
Additionally, a short play was performed, depicting iconic scenes from P. Ramlee’s films.
This skit, presented by Sarawakian artists and the Tauke Panggung group led by Wen from the Sanggar Kreatif Kuching Theatre Organisation, successfully took the audience on a nostalgic journey, highlighting the beauty of P. Ramlee’s legendary scripts and creativity.
The event also saw the presence of the P. Ramlee Fan Club of Sarawak, who continue to support the legacy of Malaysia’s great artist.
Among the distinguished guests were the Deputy Director General of the National Department of Culture and Arts, Rosnan Nordin; Chairman of the Sarawak Media Group, Kushairi Abang; Adviser of the P. Ramlee Fan Club of Sarawak, Dato Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah; Chairman of the Sanggar Kreatif Kuching Organisation, Taridi Mohamad; and JKKN Sarawak Director, Noor Seela Noor Sulaiman.
This concert not only celebrated P. Ramlee’s artistic works but also demonstrated that the young generation in Sarawak is capable of reviving the nation’s cultural legacy. -UKASnews
