KUCHING: Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) has entered a strategic collaboration with Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB), Zecon Berhad (Zecon), and Global Network Inc. (GNI) to jointly develop and invest in the Kota Petra Green Technology Park (KPGTP).

This significant partnership was formalised at a signing ceremony witnessed by SDEC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

The agreement was signed by key representatives from the four partners, including Mohamad Damshal Awang Damit of PHB, Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman of SDEC, Devid H. Gubiani of GNI, and Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad of Zecon.

Their collaboration aims to position Sarawak as a leader in green technologies and digital infrastructure.

KPGTP is envisioned to be a model of sustainability and innovation, merging cutting-edge green technologies with modern infrastructure.

The project will also boost Sarawak’s long-term sustainability goals by creating a high-tech township that attracts investments, supports innovation, and drives economic growth.

Currently, KPGTP is in its early development phase and seeking Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Malaysia Digital Cybercity (MDC) status.

These designations are expected to attract foreign direct investments (FDIs), reinforcing Sarawak's appeal to international investors.

SDEC’s role in this project includes integrating the digital infrastructure necessary for KPGTP's success.

The partnership aligns with Sarawak’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which emphasises digital transformation and infrastructure development as key pillars of economic growth.

“I believe that by harnessing cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions, we are on the right track to accelerate economic growth, enhance environmental stewardship, and improve the quality of life for the people of Sarawak,” Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi said.

PHB, Zecon, and GNI each bring a wealth of expertise to the project. PHB is a leader in property development, Zecon specialises in large-scale infrastructure projects, and GNI is known for its advanced digital shared infrastructure, with operations across several Southeast Asian countries.-UKASnews
