KUCHING: Discussions on the restoration of Sarawak’s rights as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are still ongoing between the Sarawak government and the Federal Government.

Sarawak Attorney General, Datu Saferi Ali said, the discussions involve many details including legal and administrative aspects.

“It means that the Federal government has heard these demands, and we will continue to implement this matter and push for the Federal government to take into account the Sarawak government's perspective.

“If we look at the progress made over the years, we have achieved much, all of which are the result of our effort to fight (for our rights under) MA63.

"We also continue to address the issue of powers between the state and the federation, those that we still demand to be returned.

“In other words, the struggle to reclaim state rights is still ongoing, and will be further deliberated in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after making a courtesy call on the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here, on Thursday. -UKASnews
