KUCHING: Sebuyau has a huge potential to become a well-developed coastal town with many development projects being carried out.

Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said, road connectivity in and around Sebuyau will increase following the construction of the Batang Lupar Bridge.

“We have seen the construction of a coastal road with the Batang Lupar Bridge linking the Sebuyau and Triso areas. The bridge is making good progress and will be a highly strategic route.

“Also, once the Second Trunk Road is completed, there will be an interchange where we can choose which way we want to use, either the Coastal Road, the Second Trunk Road, or if we want to continue to Lingga. So, the potential for Sebuyau to develop as a coastal town is very bright,” he said.

Dato Sri Julaihi said this when met by reporters after making a courtesy call on the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here, on Thursday.

The Sebuyau assemblyman added, the construction of the sea retaining wall in Sebuyau, with an approximate cost of RM400 million, is almost completed whereby it aims to protect the surrounding coastal areas.

He said, the Sarawak government has also identified Sebuyau as one of the areas to implement an agro-research lab.

“In Sebuyau, our agro-research lab will focus on coconut replanting. We have identified the areas, and the Sarawak government has allocated funds for coconut replanting in those areas,” he added. -UKASnews
