KUCHING: The proposal for Sarawak Mosque Management Professionalism Certificate (SPPMS) to be upgraded to diploma level will be pushed forward after receiving favourable response.
Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) President, Datuk Misnu Taha said MIS will discuss this matter with the Institut Kemahiran Islam Malaysia Sarawak (IKMAS) to discuss the implementation of the diploma.
"Of course it will involve several things in terms of management, content (learning), certification and so on," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after the presentation of the Sarawak Imam Professionalism Certificate (SPIS) & SPPMS 2024 at the Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall here, on Thursday.
The ceremony saw a total of 91 individuals receiving their SPIS and SPPMS certifications.
A total of 41 imams appointed by MIS under the Mosque Officer Service Scheme were eligible to receive certificates.
Meanwhile, about 50 members of the Supreme Committee for the Management of Mosques and Suraus appointed by MIS have received certificates.
Additionally, the Best Participant Awards were also given for both certificates according to the Southern, Central, and Northern Zones.
Datuk Misnu said the best participants for SPIS will be taken on a study tour to Indonesia while for SPPSM, they will be taken to Singapore.
