KUCHING: The Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) has welcomed the announcement of the Sarawak Budget 2025 which outlines the Sarawak Government’s efforts to strengthen the capabilities and capacity of SCS to ensure a more effective, efficient, and innovative service delivery to the rakyat.
 
In his appreciation speech, Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said this inclusive budget, through the Eighth Strategic Thrust of the Budget 2025 tabled by the Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, clearly emphasises efforts to enhance public service delivery and bolster the capabilities of SCS to face future challenges.
 
He expressed his deep appreciation to the Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak for the significant allocation that will directly benefit the Sarawak Civil Service, covering various initiatives aimed at improving service delivery while enhancing the capacity and welfare of Sarawak civil servants.
 
“One of the initiatives we truly appreciate is the allocation of RM200 million in 2025 for the construction of new quarters for civil servants across Sarawak with an overall project ceiling of RM3.55 billion.
 
“We believe that better quarters facilities, especially in rural areas, will allow Sarawak civil servants to enjoy a more comfortable life. This will certainly boost their morale and motivation to deliver excellent and high-quality services to the people,” he said in his appreciation speech on Tuesday.
 
Additionally, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar said the Sarawak Civil Service is grateful to the Sarawak Government for agreeing to allocate RM67 million in the Budget 2025 for salary adjustments under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) in line with the Federal Civil Service policy.
 
He added that the Sarawak Government will also provide a special allowance in 2025 involving an expenditure of RM102 million.
 
“This initiative reflects the concern of the Sarawak Government under the leadership of the Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak for the welfare of civil servants, particularly in facing the rising cost of living,” he said.
 
Furthermore, the Sarawak Secretary welcomed the digital transformation agenda outlined in the Budget 2025 with an allocation of RM21 million to enhance various government ICT projects, and RM107 million for the maintenance and improvement of public service delivery systems through a digital approach.
 
With these measures, he is confident that SCS will become more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people in line with rapid digital technology advancements.
 
“The Sarawak Government has also allocated RM20.3 million in the Budget 2025 for various programmes to develop the skills and capacity of civil servants.
 
“This reflects the Sarawak Government's commitment in ensuring that civil servants continue to be trained and empowered to face the ever-changing and complex challenges in the public service,” he said.
 
Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar added that these initiatives serve as recognition and appreciation for the hard work and contributions of civil servants in advancing the state.
 
“This recognition will undoubtedly serve as a motivator for all of us to continue delivering the best services and striving to improve the quality of SCS in the future,” he said.
 
As a gesture of appreciation for these initiatives, he urged and reminded the members of SCS to remain dedicated in implementing any initiatives of the Sarawak Government and to provide the best services to the rakyat.
 
“Let us all work together to ensure the Sarawak Government’s initiatives are implemented efficiently and effectively, and to collaborate as one team towards a Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak,” he said. -UKASnews
