Sarawak To Enhance Talent Development Through International Collaboration

LONDON: Sarawak is looking for more talent developments in designing semiconductor products such as silicon, geranium and gallium arsenide by enhancing collaboration with industry players in the United Kingdom.
 
Commenting on the working trip to Leeds and London, Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said, talent developments in various factors for Sarawakians are important to ensure the position of Sarawak in the global platform.
 
He believed that Sarawakian designers can be on par with their international counterparts as even now there are foreign companies already purchasing Sarawak’s semiconductor products.
 
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, who is also the Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, said the Samalaju High Tech Park is one good location for foreign companies to come and set up their companies with the workforce comprising of locals which is where talent development can be developed.
 
On biomass technology, the Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment said the visit to Drax Power Plant in Leeds, London was very fruitful and significant as it exposed to the delegation how wood pellets were used to generate clean energy in the United Kingdom.
 
“In this respect, a local company like Samling had been exporting wood pellets to foreign countries for such purpose.
 
“As such, we have the potential to develop the technology to use wood pellets to generate energy in the near future,” he said.
 
The Sarawak Deputy Premier is among members of the delegation being led by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg on a week-long official visit to Leeds, London, and Poland. -UKASnews
