IRSDA Achieves 79 Per Cent Projects Implementation

KUCHING: Development of projects under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) has reached 79 per cent physical implementation. 

IRSDA Chairman, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said, a total of 640 projects are implemented under IRSDA with 390 projects completed, 65 projects are still in progress, and 185 additional projects are still in the planning stage as of the first quarter of 2024. 

In particular, the Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts said that the sea retaining wall projects totalling RM600 million in Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Simunjan, Sebangan and others have been fully completed. 

“For the areas under IRSDA, everything is progressing smoothly with 79 per cent of infrastructure projects have been implemented.

“Various government agencies are involved in the operation of these projects, including the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Agriculture Sarawak, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), and many more, with an allocation of RM1.5 billion,” he said.

He said this in a press conference after the IRSDA Steering Committee Meeting at Baimulmakmur II, here, on Tuesday.

The meeting was held to discuss the latest status of the implementation of projects by each IRSDA subcommittees. 

Dato Sri Abdul Karim who is also the Asajaya assemblyman added, one of the projects in the pipeline is the development of Boulevard in Kota Samarahan. 

Spanning two kilometres in length and 26 metres in width, the RM100 million project will soon be the pride of Sarawakians.

Also present were Federal Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, Simunjan assemblyman, Awla Dris, and Samarahan Division Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang. -UKASnews
