Sarawak Premier Begins Official Working Visit To Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a four-day official working visit from 4 to 7 November.

A special plane carrying him along with the Sarawak Government delegation arrived at Al Bateen Executive Airport at about 1.50pm local time and was welcomed by the Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE, Tengku Dato' Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin.

Accompanying Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari are Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

Also present were Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Dato Husain, SEB Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Sharbini Suhaili, as well as high-ranking officials from the Sarawak government.

The Sarawak Premier will begin his working visit on Tuesday by visiting Masdar City, which is entirely powered by solar energy, located about 30km from Abu Dhabi.

He will then witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company and Gentari.

This strategic collaboration focuses on exploring the potential to develop the world's largest floating solar photovoltaic (PV) project, with a capacity of up to 1 gigawatt at the Murum Dam.

On Wednesday, the Sarawak Premier is scheduled to attend the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2024 at the ADNEC Centre here.

He will also participate in a panel discussion on Asia's Role in Defining the Hydrogen Market with several other invited panelists.

In the afternoon, the Premier of Sarawak is scheduled to witness the signing of an agreement between Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Mubadala Energy.

The agreement with Mubadala Energy will help SFC to promote the conservation, protection, regeneration and enhancement of biodiversity.

In addition, it also involves the development of a framework for both parties to explore opportunities in areas managed by SFC that are suitable for implementing mangrove conservation in the Kuching Wetland National Park and identify other potential conservation projects.

The Premier of Sarawak will conclude his visit by holding a meeting with the board of directors of Mubadala Energy led by its CEO and Managing Director, Sheikh Mansoor Mohamed Al Hamed.

The meeting will discuss the Sarawak Gas Roadmap and Mubadala Energy's investment opportunities in Sarawak.

The Sarawak Premier and his delegation are expected to return to Sarawak on November 8. - UKASnews
