KUCHING: The University Student Empowerment Programme (PiMU) 2024, organised by the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (UNIONS) in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), was successfully held on October 26 and 27, 2024.
The programme, attended by 200 Sarawakian students from UniMAP and UUM, aims to cultivate integrity and raise awareness about anti-corruption efforts among Sarawakian youth, while also providing a platform for networking and intellectual development.
The annual PiMU programme aims to instil a culture of integrity among Sarawakian students, while enhancing their understanding of government policies and anti-corruption initiatives, contributing to their overall growth as responsible and ethical individuals.
Initially introduced as "Integrity in Campus" in 2018 at Universiti Malaya and Universiti Malaysia Sabah, the programme was later held at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, and UiTM Samarahan in 2019.
In 2023, it was rebranded as the University Students' Integrity Camp (KIMASU) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru, before being renamed to the University Student Integrity Empowerment Programme (PiMU) in 2024.
The event was officiated by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Crown Prince of Perlis and Chancellor of UniMAP, at Hotel Seri Malaysia Kangar on October 27, 2024.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Dato’ Murshid DiRaja Dr. Juanda Jaya, UniMAP Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ts Dr Zaliman Bin Sauli, Dean of Student Affairs at UUM, Associate Prof. Dr Massudi Mahmuddin, and UNIONS Director, Wan Mohamad Wan Drahman.-UKASnews
