KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) successfully organised the Information and Current Issues Tour Series 2/2024 at a prominent hotel here on Thursday.

The programme featured three informative sessions led by the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and UKAS.

UKPS Deputy Director of Research, Dato Clarence Rorote Sagon, delivered a session outlining the role and responsibilities of UKPS in the state.

Additionally, PDRM’s session titled ‘Awareness on Scammers, What is Your Responsibility?’ was presented by ASP Tina Manchu.

The session aimed to raise public awareness of online fraud and the services provided by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director of Training, Quality Management and Research Section at UKAS, Dr Charlie Dudang, shared insights into UKAS’s role in disseminating information to the people of Sarawak.

The main objective of the Information and Current Issues Tour is to explain the Sarawak government’s policies and initiatives to grassroots communities, address concerns on current issues affecting the public, and ensure the state’s development agenda reaches the people directly.

A total of 130 participants attended the event, including Sarawak and Federal civil servants, NGO committee members, and Public Relations Officers (PROs) from public and private higher education institutions.

The programme was officially concluded by the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol.-UKASnews
