SINGAPORE: The Sarawak Pavilion at the Food and Hotel Asia (FHA)-Food & Beverage (F&B) 2024, Singapore's largest B2B trade show, was officially launched at the Max Atria Singapore Expo on Tuesday.

Covering 65,000 square metres of exhibition space with 70 international pavilions, the four-day event from April 23 to 26 involved the participation of 1,500 exhibitors from 50 countries and regions around the world including Sarawak.

Sarawak Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh attended the inauguration of the Sarawak Pavilion under the management of the Sarawak Tourism and Trade Office, Singapore (STATOS) at Hall 4, Booth 4D1-01.

He also had the opportunity to witness various types of culinary dishes, traditional Sarawak food and drinks on display such as gula apong tempe, various types of sambal and Sarawak laksa spices, aromatic pepper powder, premium range of kenyalang rice, local delicacies and kek lapis.

Also on display are seafood including fresh empurau fish, popcorn and various flavoured chocolates, special three-layer coffee and tea drinks, refreshing fruit juices, crackers, kelupis pulut, tuak, bittergourd chips, nuts, tahai and many more.

According to Datuk Dr Malcolm, this is a suitable platform to promote Sarawak products that are believed to be able to attract the interest of visitors.

"During the times Sarawak has been involved in FHA F&B 2024 over the past three years, this has really proven to be an opportunity to showcase the uniqueness of food and drinks from the land of the Hornbill and may be able to attract the interest of the visitors who come.

"I think this Sarawak Pavillion will be more famous in the future with more attractive and competitive products in the international market.

"More importantly, we can penetrate the international market because the Sarawak market is not as big, so we give opportunities for traders or entrepreneurs to expand their business," he said when interviewed by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) after the inauguration ceremony.

Earlier, STATOS Chief Executive Officer, Chew Chang Guan said, in an effort to position Sarawak as a leader in agribusiness, the Sarawak Pavilion this year has 32 exhibitors representing well-known entrepreneurs from Sarawak who are interested in exposing their businesses to the international market.

"Our aim is not only to attract interest but to foster continued engagement and purchase in our food and beverage sector, thereby positioning Sarawak in the global market.

"I invite you all to explore the Sarawak Pavilion, interact with our exhibitors, and enjoy the culinary delights that Sarawak has to offer.

"Our slogan 'Taste Sarawak' embodies the promise of an unforgettable experience, and I am sure you will enjoy every moment of it," he said while speaking at the Sarawak Pavilion Inauguration Ceremony.

Also present were Deputy Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), Lo Sheau Sia, and STATOS Board of Directors Members, Ngui Ing Ing, Charlie Soh and Christopher Chong. -UKASNews
