KUCHING: A civil service focused on innovation and integrity is crucial to Sarawak’s development as it strives to achieve its 2030 vision of becoming a prosperous, data-driven state fueled by fresh ideas.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said that the combination of these two elements enables the state’s civil service to excel in providing the best service to the people, especially when facing current challenges.

Describing integrity as the foundation of all achievements, he emphasised the need for a balance between integrity and knowledge to ensure high-quality service that effectively implements government policies.

“Sarawak’s civil service is of the highest caliber because you all possess not only knowledge but also integrity.

“This is our strength, and with it, I am confident that we can face even greater challenges in the future,” he said.

He said this during the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Awards (SCSICA) 2024 held at Pullman Hotel on Friday.

Additionally, he added that Sarawak is on a strong path to achieving its development goals through the implementation of the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“The efficiency of the public service is a crucial factor in realising this vision, which focuses on three pillars which are economic prosperity, people’s engagement and balanced development alongside environmental sustainability,” he added.

SCSICA is the highlight of Sarawak’s Civil Service Innovation Month (SCSIMon), which began on September 25, 2024, with the theme “Excellence in Service Delivery through Integrity and Innovation.”

This year’s awards featured 12 categories showcasing outstanding efforts and innovations from 50 Innovative and Creative Groups (KIK) that reached the final stage of this prestigious event.

Also present at the event were Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operation), Datu Hii Chang Kee, Sarawak Federal Secretary, Dato Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan, and other guests. - UKASnews
