MIRI: Curtin Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sarawak’s development aspirations, aligning closely with the state's goals for sustainable growth under its 2030 vision.

Sarawak Minister for Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, was present during the Curtin Malaysia Council Press Conference at the university on Friday, where Pro-Chancellor Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan highlighted Curtin Malaysia’s vital role in driving Sarawak’s transition towards IR 4.0, sustainable energy, and a thriving digital economy - key objectives under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to elevate Sarawak to high-income status by the end of the decade.

"Curtin Malaysia will continue to support Sarawak’s 2030 vision, focusing on innovation and building a more sustainable and prosperous future for the state,” he said.

One major step in this direction includes Curtin Malaysia’s launch of an Energy Engineering programme and the establishment of the Centre of New and Sustainable Energy Research and Venture (CONSERV), both of which address the growing demand for highly skilled professionals in the energy sector.

Curtin Malaysia also maintains a high standard of education quality, with 46 per cent of its academic staff awarded fellowships from Advance Higher Education (Advance HE) in the United Kingdom.

This recognition underscores Curtin Malaysia’s commitment to delivering top-tier education and equipping students with the expertise to excel in their careers.

Additionally, Curtin Malaysia has established strategic partnerships with key Sarawak government-linked companies (GLCs) such as PETROS, Sarawak Energy, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), further solidifying its role in supporting the state’s energy and economic development.

Also present at the press conference were faculty deans and other distinguished guests.-UKASnews
