Sarawak Sustainability Insights 2024 Set To Showcase State’s Leadership In Low-Carbon Development

KUCHING: Ernst & Young, in partnership with Sarawak's Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty), is hosting the Sarawak Sustainability Insights (SSI) 2024 on October 29 at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching. 

The landmark event is expected to attract over 500 delegates, including representatives from federal and state ministries, industry leaders, and international dignitaries.

The conference will feature the upcoming Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint, a comprehensive framework slated for launch in 2025. 

This blueprint outlines strategic priorities to guide Sarawak toward a low-carbon future, bolstering the state’s commitment to sustainable environmental and economic development.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, will deliver the keynote address, highlighting the state’s pioneering role in renewable energy and its ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. 

The Premier will address Sarawak’s renewable energy advancements, including hybrid solutions, carbon capture initiatives, and ESG priorities across energy, transport, and urban greening.

Prominent speakers, including Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood, Director of the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, will join the discussion on sustainable development, focusing on climate resilience, social inclusivity, and renewable energy solutions.

The event will conclude with a closing remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Dato Seri Fadillah Yusof will reaffirm federal support for Sarawak’s green initiatives. The public is invited, with free onsite registration available.-UKASnews
