MIRI: The new block of Miri Hospital is expected to be fully operational next year.

According to Deputy Health Minister, Dato Lukanisman Awang Sauni, construction of the new block will not only increase Miri Hospital's patient capacity but also mark a breakthrough in medical treatment.

He explained that it will also make quality medical services more accessible to local residents.

"We are now in the trial phase, and the installation of advanced medical equipment is now at its peak.

"The full operation of the hospital can be seamlessly transitioned to using a phased approach for staff deployment and logistics, while maintaining the highest standards of patient care," he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Miri Melanau Association's Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri event at Dewan Balau, Miri Melanau Association here, on Saturday.

Dato Lukanisman also emphasised the importance of not rushing in carrying out operations at the launch of the new block.

He said this is to guarantee comprehensive testing, equipment installation, and staff training for a sufficient number of people to offer optimal care and health services to the community.

Also present at the programme were Deputy President II of the Sarawak Melanau Federation and Advisor I of the Miri Melanau Association, Dato Alexander Maiyor, Penghulu Samad Alip, Temenggong Dato Abdul Rahman Fadzail, President of the Miri Melanau Association, Councillor Abdullah Jaini, and Vice President of the Miri Melanau Association, Masni Amit. -UKASnews
