KUCHING: Two of Sarawak’s rising stars in the modelling world, Avery Jong Xin En and Sarafina Arisya Jihel, returned home to a warm reception after clinching multiple prestigious titles at the inaugural Global Supermodel Search in Kuala Lumpur.

Avery, 6, was crowned the Junior Global Supermodel Search Grand Winner 2024. She also bagged several other accolades, including Winner Mini Global Supermodel Search 2024, Outstanding Mini Model of the Year, Fashion Icon Award, Best in High Fashion Attire, and the Popular Award.

Reflecting on her journey, Avery, who has only been modelling for a year, expressed her gratitude to her support system. “Kakak Vi (Viviana Lin Winston) and Mummy (Angela Martin) have been my biggest supporters. Kakak Vi teaches me how to catwalk, and Mummy helps me with my makeup.”

Despite her young age, Avery has already made an international impact, and her success is a proud achievement for Sarawak.

Sarafina, 15, also made waves at the competition, bringing home the Petite Global Supermodel Search 2024 crown, while placing as 1st Runner-Up in the Teen Global Supermodel Search 2024. Like Avery, she was also recognised for her fashion prowess, winning the Best in High Fashion Attire award.

“I started modelling when I was 6 years old,” shared Sarafina. She credited her family and coach for helping her along the way.

“They’ve supported me from zero to hero,” she said, adding that balancing her modelling career with her studies remains a priority for her.

The achievements of Avery and Sarafina have brought a spotlight to Sarawak’s growing presence in the international modelling scene. Both were greeted by family and friends upon their return, marking a proud moment for the state.- UKASnews
