KUCHING: Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) are committed to achieving the objectives set out in the Sarawak Gas Roadmap.

MUT Minister, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said, his ministry in collaboration with PETROS has had engagement sessions with industry players to give out permissions and solve related matters.

"As part of the follow up to the written letter that was sent to all 32 downstream and upstream industry players, my ministry in collaboration with PETROS held an engagement session on April 3 and 5.

"This approach is to give permissions and all related matters, and it seems they have understood and given positive responses," he said.

He said this when met by the media after attending the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House organised by MUT at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday.

When asked about the income of PETROS since becoming Sarawak's sole gas aggregator, he said that the appointment of PETROS as a gas aggregator under the Distribution of Gas (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023 with effect from February 1, 2024 was the first step.

"Not yet, this is the first step after we appointed PETROS, so we will wait for the results, God willing.

"Any results will be announced by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg," he said.

During the programme, Dato Sri Julaihi handed over duit raya to 75 children of the Sarawak Orphans Welfare Board (PERYATIM) Kuching.

Also present were Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, MUT Deputy Ministers, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Datuk Liwan Lagang, as well as Heads of Departments and representatives of other government agencies. -UKASnews
