MUKAH: Three hemodialysis machines have been handed over to Mukah Hospital under the Kidney Patients Special Assistance (BKPBP) initiative, said Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

According to her, it is a measure to ease and reduce the pressure and burden on kidney patients who need treatment, especially around the Mukah Division.

"This is very important for those who are less fortunate, because kidney therapy in private hospitals can cost up to RM320 per session.

"Within a week, they must undergo three treatments, which will undoubtedly cause financial difficulties.

"With this BKPBP initiative, of course it can ease their financial burden," she said.

She said this while speaking at the Hemodialysis Machine Handover Ceremony at Mukah Hospital recently.

She explained further that the total cost of all hemodialysis equipment handed over at Mukah Hospital is RM123,450, with each unit costing RM41,150.

The Dalat assemblywoman added that the number of patients being treated at the Hemodialysis Unit is increasing.

Meanwhile, at a separate event, Dato Sri Fatimah also attended the Handover Ceremony of the Hemodialysis Machine worth RM41,150 to Dalat Hospital.
