Mental Health Of Sarawak Civil Servants Prioritised

KUCHING:
 The mental health of civil servants has now become one of the key agendas of the Sarawak Government.
 
Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki emphasised that both mental and physical wellbeing must be given serious attention to ensure a public service that is more productive and efficient.
 
“During our visit to Brunei Darussalam last week, health was one of the main topics discussed with the (Sarawak) department heads.
 
"As civil servants, we cannot overlook issues related to health, whether mental or physical. This matter must be prioritised,” he said.
 
He spoke to officiate the Jubilee Conference on Psychology, Counselling and Wellbeing of the Sarawak Civil Service here, on Tuesday.
 
Additionally, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar urged the Human Resource Development and Management Unit to broaden awareness efforts on health among civil servants.
 
"Good health will lead to high productivity. Although health issues are sometimes unavoidable, proper healthcare and preventive measures should be prioritised,” he added.
 
Meanwhile, the conference attracted the participation of nearly 800 attendees from various public service agencies.
 
During the same event, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar also presented the Sarawak Civil Service Excellence Award for Psychology and Counselling 2024 to five recipients.
 
The recipients were from the Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, the Land and Survey Department, the Women and Family Department, the Syariah Judiciary Department, and the Sarawak State Treasury Department.
 
Also present were Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datu Abdullah Julaihi, Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datu Sherrina Hussaini, and other heads of Sarawak Government departments. -UKASnews
