SIBU: The youth are called to delve into political issues and fight for development in the interior to ensure their voices are heard and positive changes can be realised.
In an effort to strengthen the role of the youth in national development, two members of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Belia Wing representing the Semop State Legislative Assembly area, Khaira Amirah and Dominic Amor called for the youth to be more active in understanding politics and fighting for development in the area interior that is still lagging behind.
According to them, active participation in politics and the use of digital platforms are key to bringing about meaningful change, especially for marginalised communities.
Dominic emphasised the importance of the participation of youth from rural areas in the youth wing of the United Nations 1828.
According to him, this participation gives space to bring the voice of the interior youth, especially from the Dayak area, which is still lagging behind in terms of development.
"We hope that participation in the United Nations can bring a voice and hope for the youth in the rural areas.
"Many basic facilities such as recreational parks, sports fields, and halls for youth courses are still lacking in this area," explained Dominic.
This call was made after the PBB Belia Wing Launching Ceremony which was completed by the PBB President and Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg on Sunday.
He also emphasised that digital platforms play an important role in disseminating the latest information and advancing rural communities so that they do not fall behind in the current of global development.
Dominic added, youth participation in politics is not just to be involved in the political process, but also to fight for the voice and development needs of rural communities throughout the country.
Meanwhile, Khaira expressed her hope that youth across the country would be given the opportunity to delve into the world of politics, especially in the context of the latest issues.
A broader understanding of politics, she said, would help the youth open their minds and broaden their perspectives in various careers.
"I hope all the PBB youth can learn about politics and how to deal with current issues more effectively," he said. - UKASnews
