SIBU: The establishment of the new Belia Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) for youths aged 18 to 28 is described as 'interns' in the state's political arena in an effort to produce the next generation of leaders.
The PBB President who is also the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said that through the establishment of the new wing, its members will be trained and exposed to leadership and administration.
"If in the corporate world it is called 'internship', then you are the new 'intern'.
"Today is the start of the training session for the youth," he said.
He said this while speaking at the Launching Ceremony of the Sarawak PBB Belia Wing here on Sunday.
The chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) also explained that politics is not an easy field, especially when faced with various complex situations.
However, he said, the youth should be educated with a culture to continue learning and prepare themselves to develop the state of Sarawak.
"Our goal is to develop and serve the community. If our intention is strong to see the interests of the state and the nation above our own interests, we will not fail," he stressed.
Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also emphasised the importance of collective efforts in the development of the state and the need for youth to master the latest technology to face the challenges of future change.
Also present were PBB Deputy Presidents Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, PBB Senior Vice Presidents Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof and Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and members of the PBB Supreme Council.-UKASnews
