BETONG: Kuntau practitioners in the state were told to continue teaching and practising the traditional Dayak martial art.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this was the best way to keep it alive in the efforts to preserve it.
He said this during a courtesy call by Mahaguro Serit Bili of the Gelanggang Ujan Panas Spring 36 at the Spaoh sub-district office on Saturday.
"The instructors must be consistent in their efforts so that we can preserve this cultural heritage of ours for our future generation," said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah adding that proper instructions and regular training classes will ensure this.
"Our kuntau instructors too should have the proper 'kelang' (court) for the benefit of their students," he said in which he is happy to note there are still many instructors actively promoting the art.
"This augurs very well for the upkeep of our culture and tradition," said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah after he pledged a grant of RM5,000.00 to Mahaguro Serit.-UKASnews
