BALEH: Rh. Steward Sambang longhouse community has received RM5,000 for crucial repairs to its bridge and eroded riverbank, addressing safety concerns for the local community.
The funding was announced by Deputy Minister of Digital, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, during a community event at Rh. Steward Sambang, Nanga Sebetong Ilik, Baleh, on Friday.
Tr. Steward Sambang highlighted the urgent need for repairs to the riverbank, which has eroded, posing risks to the longhouse’s jetty. Additionally, he requested assistance for yard expansion to provide better shelter from the rain.
In response, Datuk Wilson Ugak also allocated an additional RM5,000 to the Women’s Bureau of Rh. Steward Sambang, led by Maria Sambang, for the construction of a storage facility to house kitchen equipment used for large-scale cooking events.
Moreover, each Women’s Bureau present at the event was awarded RM3,000 to support local initiatives as part of the community support programme.
The event also saw the longhouse hosting the Rahmah Sale, where locals could purchase daily necessities at discounted prices, attracting a large turnout from the community.-UKASnews
