BETONG: The Pusat GIATMARA in Spaoh is expected to receive its first student intake by January next year.
According to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas the former agriculture office is currently being renovated and upgraded for it.
He said this after listening to a briefing on its renovation and upgrading process at the Spaoh sub-district office here last evening.
The briefing was conducted by the State Mara Director Abdul Halim Sarojai, Betong JKR engineer Jason Ng and others from relevant departments.
" We have allocated a sum of RM600,000.00 to upgrade it. Hopefully it will be ready for our first intake of 20 students from my Bukit Saban constituency by next year," said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah who is also the Bukit Saban assemblyman.
The centre will initially offers two courses namely electrical and sewing.
"There be both short term and long term courses for the electrical study," said Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah adding the centre would provide opportunities for those unemployed youth to obtain skill trainings.
" This is very important. We want our youths to have the chances to obtain the skill in these two fields and others that we will introduce in the future.With more economic activities coming , there will be employment opportunities in the electrical, housing and land development industries for them," he said. -UKASnews
