Emphasis On Digitalisation & Green Technology At Mini Industry-Academia Seminar

BINTULU: The Mini Industry-Academia Seminar 2024 has been launched, with an emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in digitalisation and green technology.

The seminar was launched by Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn at the Goldenbay Hotel Bintulu on Thursday.

During the seminar, Dato Sri Roland Sagah announced important initiatives to enhance TVET in Sarawak, including updating the curriculum, training and developing teachers, collaborating with industry, investing in infrastructure, and launching awareness campaigns.

“These initiatives aim to equip the youth of Sarawak with the skills needed for the growing job market,” he said.

Furthermore, he also highlighted the importance of integrating the latest technology and sustainability principles into the TVET curriculum to keep Sarawak’s workforce competitive and adaptable.

“A UNIMAS study from 2014 estimated that over one million new jobs will be created by 2030, with more than 50% of these being skilled and semi-skilled positions,” he added.

The seminar was organised alongside Sarawak Skills and industry partners to discuss the role of TVET in achieving Sarawak’s digital and green technology goals.

Also present were MEITD Head of Talent Development Division, Khaninah Ariff, Acting Executive Director of Sarawak Skills, Mohd Isham Fauzi, Director of the Bintulu Advanced Technology Training Centre, Ts. Syahrul Nizam Perdan, and other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
