SELALANG: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) is organising a two-day STEM carnival camp aimed at providing exposure to the importance of STEM education.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that parents should support their children's personal interests and passions rather than imposing their own expectations.
“We should find out their interests and support them in what they love, as there are many opportunities in academics, arts, and sports to help them grow,” he said during the opening ceremony at Selalang Community Hall on Wednesday.
This STEM Carnival Camp involves more than 50 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Mandor Aris, Selalang, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Jawa, Kerubong.
The two-day carnival, from 25 to 26 September, is expected to benefit participants by exposing them to the importance of STEM education and allowing students to apply computational, critical, and creative thinking skills throughout the camp.
It also aims to raise awareness among parents about the significance of STEM education for their children.
Additionally, it is hoped that this programme will foster creativity and innovation in students and serve as a platform for teachers to share ideas in making the planned programme a success.
