PALOH: Rural communities, particularly in Paloh, Kedang, and Berangan, must prepare to reap the benefits of the development projects planned to be implemented in the next four to five years.

According to Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, a major project in particular involves the construction of roads that will connect Paloh, Kedang, and Berangan to Tanjung Manis.

He said this project will not only improve connectivity but also lead to additional infrastructure projects for the benefit of locals.

"We have heard good news from the Member of Parliament for Tanjong Manis (Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab).

“InshaAllah, within the next five years, I believe the areas will see an increase in traffic. So, be prepared (for the need) to repair the roads in villages, and so on,” he said at the Pulau Paloh Festival held here, on Monday.

Earlier during the event, Ir Yusuf highlighted that physical works for the road construction project connecting Paloh, Kedang, and Berangan to Tanjung Manis is set to begin in 2026, with the tender process expected to be issued by the end of 2025.

He urged the community to remain patient as the large-scale project requires time for proper execution.

Meanwhile, the Pulau Paloh Festival featured various exciting activities, such as fishing competitions, netball, futsal, tug-of-war, and lucky draw events, with participation from the residents of Kampung Paloh, Kedang, and Berangan. -UKASnews
