KUCHING: Wonderful news for the Sarawak para tenpin bowling team as they bowled their way to first place, securing three gold medals at the Para Malaysia Games (Para SUKMA) 2024 today.

The team won in the Women’s Single TPB10, Women’s Single TPB3, and Open Single TPB2 categories.

Among the winners, Nur Amalina Mohd Mosadad expressed her joy after clinching a gold medal in the Women’s Single TPB10.

“I am thrilled to win a medal for the Sarawak para team, especially in tenpin bowling,” she said when met by reporters.

Amalina managed to retain her gold medal, having also won in the previous edition of Para SUKMA.

“This was my second time defending the gold, and I am grateful I could maintain it,” she added.

Despite the challenges of balancing training with caring for her two young children, she stayed committed over two years.

Her victory put Nur Hidayah Sulaiman from Selangor in second place.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Kaboh, a first-time competitor in the biennial games, claimed the gold medal in the Women’s Single TPB3 after defeating Athirah Azman from Sabah and Siti Hajar Hasan from Perak.

She credited her success to learning from fellow bowlers and her sister’s support.

“I did not expect to win a medal, but in my heart, my goal was always to get gold for Sarawak,” she told reporters.

In the Open Single TPB2 category, Roni Tugiman won the gold medal after beating Muhamad Suhaili Ab Hamid from Penang who settled for second place while Mohd Azmir Ariffin from Selangor took third place.

Sarawak para tenpin bowling head coach, Myron Khoo expressed his delight after the team secured gold medals across the three categories.

With six more events tomorrow, he remains hopeful for more wins, particularly in the TPB4 category for both men and women.

Sarawak Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah was present during the medal presentation ceremony along with Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, and other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
