KUCHING: Sarawak has a huge potential to forge a partnership with Türkiye in the business sector.

Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia, Emir Salim Yüksel expressed his great interest in the development of the state.

In this regard, he led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar to discuss trade, economy, and business contacts between the Turkish people and Sarawakians.

“Over the next two days, I plan to reach out to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and various business organisations in the state to establish some contacts between the authorities of Sarawak, local business entities, and Turkish delegations.

“Since everyone is looking for business opportunities, it is a good time to initiate discussions and explore potential collaborations.

“I think Sarawak could be a very good business partner for businesses in Türkiye,” he said when met by reporters after the courtesy call at the Astana Negeri Sarawak in Petra Jaya, here, on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Emir Salim also took the opportunity to convey Aidilfitri wishes and expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality given by the Sarawak government during his visit to the state.

Also present during the courtesy call was the Sarawak Governor’s wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi. -UKASnews
