BETONG: The younger generation needs to embrace science and digital technology to drive new economic sectors being explored in Sarawak, such as the hydrogen economy.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, stated that the skills and knowledge of today’s youth are invaluable and must be nurtured so they can become the next generation of thriving leaders.

He mentioned that the Sarawak government will provide free education opportunities, particularly at several state-owned institutions.

“If we want to see the future of a nation, we should look at its youth,” he said during the closing ceremony of the 'Youth Unplugged (YoU) 1.0 2024' programme at Dewan Wawasan Anak Mansang, SK Nanga Ajau, Betong, recently.

Dato Gerald, who is also the Layar Assemblyman, added that the Youth Unplugged Programme is one of the initiatives supporting the education of young people, serving as a platform for sharing knowledge and experience.

He further noted that the programme also focuses on skills such as teamwork, continuous learning, information management, entrepreneurship, as well as moral and professional ethics. -UKASnews
