MUKAH: The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar together with Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi completed the Maulidur Rasul Thanksgiving Ceremony at the Masjid Setia Raja here on Monday.
The Maulidur Rasul Thanksgiving Ceremony is an Islamic festival and an official event of the Sarawak Government that is held every year.
He was accompanied by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Sarawak Datuk Len Talif, Balingian Assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and Daro Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
The objective of the celebration is to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet SAW as an example for all Muslims.
In addition, the second objective is to examine the history of the struggles of the Prophet Muhammad SAW when it came to fueling the love of Muslims for this noble religion.
The ceremony started with the Maghrib prayer and the reading of Yasin led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
It was followed by a special Maulidur Rasul talk by Sarawak Mufti Datu Kipli Yassin, congregational Isyak prayers and Zikr Marhaban.
After dining, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi left for home at 9:30 pm.
Also present were Sarawak's Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Welfare Development and also Dalat Assemblywoman Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah and Sarawak Islamic Council Chairman Datuk Misnu Taha. - UKASnews
