SRI AMAN: Simanggang Town is set to become the centre of attention with the hosting of Sarawak-level Malaysia Day 2024 celebrations on September 16.
Sri Aman Division, known for the signing of the peace agreement or the Sri Aman Declaration in 1973, is now ready to host the celebration.
This year's celebration will be enlivened with various programmes, starting with the Thanksgiving Ceremony on September 14 at the Dewan Suarah Sri Aman.
In the afternoon, the celebration continues with the ‘Konsert Rakyat’ at the Sri Aman Riverbank.
The public will be entertained by local celebrities, along with cultural performances and a fireworks display as the highlight of the event.
On September 15, the celebration will continue with a Thanksgiving Ceremony at the Masjid Bandar Sri Aman.
The event is expected to be attended by the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, along with his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also expected to attend are the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
The highlight event, the Sarawak-level Malaysia Day Assembly, will take place on September 16 at the Sri Aman Sports Complex Indoor Stadium.
The ceremony will be graced by the presence of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani.
