KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Samarahan International Bike Fest (SIBF) is an event that unites both local enthusiasts of high-powered motorcycles and international visitors, helping to boost the tourism industry, particularly in Kota Samarahan.

Sarawak’s Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Dato Idris Buang, said that these motorcycle fans come from all over Malaysia, including Sarawak, Sabah, Labuan, and Peninsular Malaysia.

This year’s SIBF has also attracted international fans, including visitors from Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore.

"One of the goals of SIBF is to promote both domestic and international tourism by showcasing Kota Samarahan as a well-known destination, not just in Borneo but throughout Malaysia, while also serving as a platform for the community.

"This event allows us to show that the biker community in Samarahan, as well as from other states and countries, is like one big family that respects and supports one another," he added.

Also present were Samarahan District Officer Ahmad Abdul Razak, Samarahan District Police representative Hailwandi Suhaimi, Samarahan Division Youth and Sports Officer representative Mark Leroy, and Tegar Bikers President Dulip Singh.

Dato Idris, who is also Muara Tuang assemblyman, sees the festival as a valuable chance for Sarawak to highlight the beauty and potential of the Samarahan area as a destination for tourism and sports.

“I hope all visitors will make the most of this opportunity to enjoy a memorable experience and strengthen their connections with the local community," he added.

This year’s SIBF 2024 aims for 1,000 registered participants, with a target of 8,000 visitors. -UKASnews
