TATAU: The Regatta Tatau 2024 surged into action on Saturday morning, with the peaceful waters of Batang Anap transformed into a thrilling battleground of speed and skill.

Spectators gathered early to witness the fierce competition, as the river became a stage for teams eager to claim victory in this celebrated traditional event.

The regatta was officially launched by Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, who set the tone for a day of high energy and excitement.

The atmosphere was further charged by the presence of Tatau District Officer, Jabang Juntan, along with Pemanca Gerosen Jubin and other community leaders, heads of departments, and the local KMKK (Community Leaders and Village Chiefs).

Their attendance reflected the deep-rooted importance of the regatta to the local culture and community.
The morning races featured five competitive categories, each one stirring the crowd with its intensity and tight finishes.

In the highly anticipated 20 Paddlers Bidar/Temuai race, it was a day of glory for Kasihnya Warisan, who not only clinched the top spot but also secured third place in the same race, with Kueh Brother 2 earning a well-deserved second place.

The roaring cheers for the winners echoed across the riverbanks, setting the bar high for the following events.
The competition continued to heat up in the 7 Paddlers Bidar/Temuai category, where Sama Samalaju paddled their way to the top.

Kueh Brother 3 and BDA 3 claimed second and third place respectively, but the close finishes kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Sama Samalaju's dominance continued as they also triumphed in the 10 Paddlers Bidar/Temuai race, leaving Kueh Brother 3 to take second, with Sama Samalaju 3 rounding out the top three.

The 15 Paddlers Bidar/Temuai race was another highlight of the morning, with Kueh Brother 2 powering through to victory.

Sama Samalaju proved their consistency with a solid second-place finish, while Sama Samalaju 3 once again secured third, keeping the competition tight throughout the event.

Sri Anap claimed victory in the 7 Paddlers Temuai category, with Pesaka Data Bian following closely in second, and Sri Jelai taking the third position.

The impressive performances from all teams demonstrated the level of skill and preparation that had gone into the regatta, with each race providing exhilarating moments for the crowd.

With the afternoon races still ahead and more events scheduled for the following day, the Regatta Tatau 2024 promises even more thrilling action as teams battle it out for supremacy on the waters of Batang Anap.
