MATU: Residents of Kampung Tian, Matu received a meaningful gift in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this time as they will be getting a new multipurpose hall.

The good news was announced by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya who said that the project will be implemented under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) with its phase one worth RM15 million.

"With this hall, it will be easier for the community to hold programmes and carry out activities," he said when attending the Kampung Tian Aidilfitri Ramah Tamah programme held at Kampung Tian, Matu Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Resource Centre on Monday.

In another matter, the Jemoreng Assemblyman said that the completion of a new road behind Kampung Tian earlier this year has resolved residents' complaints about the lack of parking spaces in the village.

"Alhamdulillah, this year there is no more complaint about insufficient parking spaces and the community can celebrate Aidilfitri without worrying about that," he added.

During the event, Datuk Dr Juanda and his wife, Datin Shanti Achmad also spent time with the community and presented duit raya donations.

Earlier in the morning, the Jemoreng Assemblyman and his wife spent some time attending the Aidilfitri Ramah Tamah of Kampung Sok, Matu at the JKKK Resource Centre of the village.

In his brief speech, Datuk Juanda said the request of the Village Chief of Kampung Sok about drainage had long been communicated to the Community Leaders and Village Chiefs (KMKK) to make plans for the location of drainage in their respective villages, in addition to holding discussions with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, the Land and Survey Department as well as the District Office for further action.

"With the proposed drainage plan later, we will be able to identify which landlords who agree with its implementation.

"Regarding the youth activity centre, give suggestions on what activities you want to work on, and I strongly support economic activities as they can lead to healthy activities taking place in the village," he added.

Regarding the application for the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK), he said continuous efforts and follow-up actions will be carried out from time to time.
