KUCHING: Nine trainees from Jepak Constituency have been selected to join the Youth Skills Competency Training Programme, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

This programme offers a range of fields for trainees, providing them with direct training from experienced industry experts and the opportunity to obtain a recognised skills competency certificate.

The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reporters interviewed several newly enrolled trainees in the Air-Conditioning & Mechanical Ventilation programme, part of the Mechanical & Electrical field after the handover ceremony for DUN N.67 Jepak trainees held at the CIDB Complex on Monday.

One of the trainees, Zetty Akhtar Aren from the Belaga district, expressed her excitement about joining the programme since completing her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

She hopes to prove that women can excel in this industry and aims to advance her career by enhancing her skills.

"Some people underestimate women in this field, so I want to prove that women can excel in this industry without limits,” she said.

Another trainee, Faizan Taqwaliman, shared his motivation for joining the programme, mentioning that he wants to make his family proud and improve their quality of life, even if it means being far from home.

"I want to make my family happy, get a good job, and bring them out for vacations,” he said.

The programme aims to empower youth by equipping them with the necessary skills and qualifications to succeed in their chosen fields. -UKASnews
