BINTANGOR: The Jiwa Komuniti Madani Programme in celebration of National Day 2024 was attended by Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing.

In his speech, Datuk Ding stated that National Day is an extremely important occasion every year for all levels of society in Malaysia.

However, he also emphasised that Sarawak Day, celebrated annually on July 22, should always be remembered by the people of Sarawak, as it marks the significant date of Sarawak's independence from British rule.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of Malaysia Day, celebrated on 16 September each year, which commemorates the formation of the Malaysian Federation on the same date in 1963, signifying the union of Malaya, Sabah, and Sarawak to form Malaysia.

Datuk Ding noted that development in Sarawak continues to progress under the leadership of Premier Sarawak, Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, which proves that the Sarawak Government always prioritises the well-being of the people.

Datuk Ding expressed his gratitude to the Meradong District Information Department for inviting him to celebrate National Day this morning with the residents of Sungai Tulai, Bintangor.
