TANJUNG MANIS: The government has allocated a total of RM20 million for the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) programme in Tanjung Manis through the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) and RM15 million for the construction of the Tanjung Manis Sports Complex through the Matu Daro District Council (MDMD).

Sarawak Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the SPS is specifically for any individual from outside who wants to settle and reside in Tanjung Manis.

The Kuala Rajang Assemblyman indicated that it will take some time to implement the project.

Datuk Len said this while speaking at the ‘Riang Ria Aidilfitri’ programme at the Tanjung Manis Community Hall on Monday which was also attended by his wife, Datin Asiah Awai, and Tanjong Manis Member of Parliament Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab.

Datuk Len also wants the Tanjung Manis Sports Complex project that has been entrusted to MDMD to be implemented as soon as possible as it is necessary to improve the progress of sports in Tanjung Manis and the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, in his speech, the Kuala Rajang Assemblyman informed that such ‘Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri’ programme will be continued in the future as it can further strengthen the bond not only among Muslims but also with other races.

The Riang Ria Aidilfitri programme was celebrated in a lively atmosphere with various performances, lucky draws and the presentation of duit raya by Datuk Len and Ir Yusuf to the attendees.

Also present were Heads of Departments, Community Leaders and Village Chiefs (KMKK), and Tanjung Manis residents. -UKASnews
