KUCHING: The Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival 2024 aims to boost the economy and highlight the state’s unique delicacies.
The Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, who is also the Member of Parliament for Santubong, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, stated that the festival leverages the momentum from the recently held Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXI to elevate Sarawak’s profile.
“This festival serves as a gateway to boost the economy for the state, its people, and all those involved.
“This will also benefit the target groups, including the people in my constituency, welfare recipients, and women,” she said.
According to her, this is an opportunity for participants to showcase their creativity and innovation.
She made these remarks during the media conference for the Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival 2024, Malaysia Day Edition, held at a hotel here on Tuesday.
The advisor of the Sarawak Gastronomy Association stated that Sarawak is highly organised and systematic in its efforts to promote the state’s culture and unique delicacies.
The Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival 2024, Malaysia Day Edition, is set to take place from September 14 to 15 at the Sarawak Cultural Village. The event will feature up to 150 food vendors, arts and crafts, and various exhibitors.
The Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Awards will also be held, featuring 12 categories designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of Sarawak’s local businesses, from traditional food stalls to luxury innovators.
