KUCHING: The Sarawak-owned airline company that is expected to operate in 2025, is said to provide a variety of options to users, especially for Sarawakians.

Chief Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, stated that this Sarawak-owned airline company could also introduce competition and may further reduce flight ticket prices.

"If we book flight tickets now, particularly for destinations to Kuala Lumpur, the tickets are estimated to cost between RM800 to RM1,000.

"That's quite pricey, and we hope that with the presence of this airline company, it might introduce competition and possibly further reduce ticket prices for Sarawakians who wish to travel to the Peninsula or vice versa," he said during his Hari Raya Open House event held here, on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Fazzrudin, who is also a Tupong Assemblyman, informed that Sarawakian students have the opportunity to benefit from the Sarawak Government's initiative through the Sarawak Graduate Return Initiative (i-GPS).

"This programme is organised by Sarawak Volunteers with the Sarawak Foundation, where students can apply twice a year.

"They will receive RM300 upon the first application and RM600 for the second application, so it's up to them whether they want to use it during festive seasons or holiday seasons to ease the burden on our students every year," he stated.

The Hari Raya open house event was further enlivened by the presence of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang. -UKASnews
