SADONG JAYA: Students who excel in sports should be further developed to nurture more athletes for the future.

Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris also mentioned that many sports events are now being held to scout for talented athletes.

Awla noted that effort to identify students' talents should begin at the primary school level, as it is crucial for ensuring that these talents can be further developed as they grow into teenagers.

"With the conclusion of Malaysia Games (SUKMA), it is evident that the athletes who represented their respective states were products of talents scouted from the school level," he said at the Annual Athletics Championship and Sports Day organised by the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Terasi.

Awla also urged parents to encourage their children to participate in sports activities at their schools.

He explained that physical activity can enhance children's mental well-being and have a positive impact on their academic performance.

Three sports houses took place in the athletics championships, including Rumah Axia, Rumah Aruz and Rumah Alza.
