LAWAS: Development in Lawas needs to be holistic, encompassing all aspects to ensure that the area can improve the standard of living of its people and present a positive image at the Indonesian border.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, stated that the focus of leaders in the district is crucial in ensuring that its development aligns with the progress brought about by the Sarawak Government.
"In terms of roads, we need to build good roads at the Indonesian border, through Ba'Kelalan, as this is also related to our image.
"Similarly, telecommunications and education, where all of these are very important for us to develop, including health, and we will have a new hospital here.
"Our current focus is to develop all aspects of development to improve the standard of living of the community," he said this when speaking at a Community Dinner with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tan Sri Dato' (Dr) Johari Abdul, here on Friday.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah noted that Lawas, has been made a buffalo production center, thus increasing the income of the community in addition to agriculture and fisheries.
In addition, the Bukit Sari Assemblyman hopes Malaysia will continue to be stable and peaceful, which is also the stance of the Sarawak Government.
With this stability, he said, peace and harmony will continue to be maintained so that the government can focus on efforts to attract investment from both domestic and foreign sources.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Dato Johari, in his speech, said that Malaysia is an extraordinary country that is able to live in a multiracial society peacefully.
"God willing, our country will progress. We ensure that our children are disciplined, knowledgeable, and always uphold the dignity of our country," he said.
