Sarawak Overall SUKMA 2024 Champion, Ends 30-Year Wait

KUCHING: Sarawak's 30-year wait ended when it was announced as the overall champion of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXl Sarawak 2024.

Sarawak won 76 gold, 54 silver and 68 bronze medals thus ending the three-decade wait for the Games to be held after the last time they won it in 1994.

The women's individual artistic gymnastics camp competing in the floor gymnastics event secured Sarawak's SUKMA 2024 championship when it was awarded the 76th gold medal.

While the Federal Territory had to concede as the runner-up with a difference of only one gold medal behind the host, 65 silver and 72 bronze.

Meanwhile, Selangor is in third place with 55 gold, 64 silver and 57 bronze.

Even more proud for Sarawakians, when the target of 70 golds set for the host contingent was successfully achieved.

Tonight will be the closing ceremony of the SUKMA XXI Sarawak Games 2024 which will be officiated by the Prime Minister, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg and Sarawak's state leaders are also expected to attend the event.-UKASnews
