KUCHING: Sarawak sprinter, Ormilla Octavia Codday Nyadau added another bronze to the state's tally in the women’s 200 metres event at the Sarawak Stadium on Tuesday.
Adding to the achievement, Ormilla informed reporters that she set a new personal best at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024.
Her previous best time was 25.13 seconds, but in the final round of the women’s 200 metres, she clocked an impressive 24.94 seconds.
Ormilla expressed that she still has room for improvement and aims to elevate Sarawak’s name in future competitions.
“My plan moving forward is to focus on training because, besides SUKMA, I will be representing Sarawak in the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) events,” she said.
Ormilla still has one event left in SUKMA 2024 which is the women’s 100-metre relay that will take place on August 23.
In the women’s 200 metres final, Selangor’s Nur Afrina Batrisyia broke the championship record with a time of 23.89 seconds, winning the gold medal.
Izzatul Musfirah of Terengganu secured the silver medal with a time of 24.52 seconds. -UKASnews
